Testimonials
I visit Alexander House every day (to see my friend Jim) and find a very happy, caring and loving atmosphere there, with plenty of activities and entertainment to keeps minds alert. If I need rest home care in the future Alexander House would be my No 1 choice.
Our Mother, Jean has been a resident at Alexander house for five years. Cheryl and her team have looked after mum and her changing needs with compassion, kindness, sensitivity and a high standard of Nursing skill. The most important thing to our family is the outstanding staff and the homeliness of the facility. We did not want mum in cold, clinical environment, but rather in the friendly home environment, we could no longer provide.
Maureen has been at Alexander House for just over 2 years. She is one of the younger people living there. She came because of a serious car accident (head trauma) when she was 21, which has slowly made her unable to cope with living independently. Right from the start, Sheryl and the staff handled her so well. Maureen can be a bit loud and make unnecessary statements. Eg: "What a sexy looking male", "I will never have a shower".
Sheryl would handle her so well...with a friendly and almost teasing manner, which Maureen really responded to. Very slowly bit by bit Sheryl (and her staff) encouraged Maureen to not stay in her room all day.... letting her stay in her room for the first months. Now she is in the Lounge from after breakfast..... all morning until after lunch. She has stopped smoking and has actually befriended some of the other residents, who sit in the lounge. With much patience, Maureen has been encouraged to wear her hearing aid again. She always raves to me about the great the home-cooked meals she has there. She calls Alexander House her home. I have nothing but praise and thanks for the care and attention Maureen receives.
